Match Review ITA - SIN 4-0
Italy and Singapore, both still pointless in this tournament, were looking forward to a more balanced match and both started their last round-robin match with enthusiasm. The first good chance was for Agustin NUNEZ on penalty-corner but his well-taken flick was just wide.
Italy were dominating the proceedings and pushing Singapore back on their heels. It is finally Ignacio SALAS who opened the scoring in the 17th minute, inheriting a ball in the circle with some space and turning around to slam it past Robin Wan Chiang NG in the Singaporean goal.
The young team from Singapore, improving quickly in this competition, held their ground and threatened the Italian goal in the final minute of the period on a penalty-corner and the ensuing scramble, finally cleared by goal-keeper Davide GUIDA. But Italy scored a second goal in the dying second of the period by Agustin NUNEZ to go into the half-time break with a 2-0 lead.
The match remained animated and interesting in second period. Italy was controlling play but were kept at bay for more than fifteen minutes before Agustin NUNEZ scored his second goal of the match. They added another penalty-corner in the final minute of the match for a final score of 4-0.
The two teams will play each other again on Sunday for the 5th-6th place match.
Player of the Match was Agustin NUNEZ of Italy.
