Netherlands’ Lammers ruled out of HWL Finals

Star striker Kim replaced by Pheninckx after suffering knee injury

Olympic Gold medal-winning striker Kim Lammers has been forced to withdraw from the Netherlands squad that will compete in this month’s Argentina Hockey World League Finals tournament due to injury.

The brilliant goal-scorer suffered an injury to her right knee during a league match for her club team Laren MHC on Sunday, with Netherlands coach Max Caldas calling up SV Kampong player Malou Pheninckx as a replacement.

The severity of Lammers’ injury is not known at this stage, although she will be undergoing assessment in hospital later this week.

The Netherlands have been drawn into Pool A, and will compete against contains Olympic Bronze medallists England, European champions Germany and Asian giants Korea. Pool B features hosts Argentina, Australia, New Zealand and China.

The tournament takes place in San Miguel de Tucuman and runs from 30 November until 8th December. To see the match schedule for this event, please click here
