American joins select group to have umpired 100 senior internationals

Shortly before the start of the Argentina versus New Zealand match on Sunday evening, American umpire Amy Hassick was presented with her Golden Whistle in recognition of recently umpiring her 100th senior international match.

Amy, who made her senior international umpiring debut in June 2007, reached the milestone at the recent Asia Cup in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. She becomes the 33rd women’s umpire to achieve a Golden Whistle and the second USA umpire to do so, following in the footsteps of Jun Kentwell who reached the benchmark in 2004.

Amy has enjoyed a stellar career to date, having officiated at the London 2012 Olympic Games, the women’s Hockey World Cup in Rosario as well as at the Champions Trophy tournaments in Nottingham, England (2010) and Amstelveen, Netherlands (2011).

Amy received her Golden Whistle from Pam Stuper, Executive Board Member of the International Hockey Federation.

“It is great working with Amy, she is a great member of the team who is always keen to learn despite all of her experience”, said Yolande Brada (NED), speaking on behalf of both herself and fellow tournament Umpires Manager Minka Woolley (AUS). “Both myself and Minka would like to say a big congratulations to Amy on her wonderful achievement.”
