Hockey World League Media accreditation process closes soon

October 22, 2015

With the showpiece Hockey World League Final events in Raipur (India - men) and Rosario (Argentina - women) just weeks away, FIH would like to remind members of the media that the accreditation process is currently open and that now is the time to apply.

The sixteen teams competing across the two events will be represented by the best players in the world - hockey heroes and rising stars. With all of the teams taking part having already qualified for the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, the competition is certain to be intense and action-packed.

Members of the media interested in covering the women’s event in Rosario - where Argentina, Australia, China, Germany, Great Britain, Korea, Netherlands and New Zealand will be in action between 5-13 December 2015 - are invited to apply for accreditation at the following link: http://www.acreditaciones.e-s.com.ar.  The closing date for the Rosario event is Friday 23rd October 2015

For members of the media looking to apply for accreditation to the men’s Hero Hockey World League Final in Raipur - where Argentina, Australia, Belgium, Canada, Great Britain, Olympic champions Germany, India and the Netherlands will fight for the title from 27th November to 6th December 2015 - please contact media@fih.ch for more information. The closing date for the event in Raipur is Tuesday 10th November 2015.

In addition to being crowned Hockey World League champions, the winning teams will each seal a ticket for next year's Champions Trophy events, where the ‘best of the best’ will fight it out for the last major titles ahead of the Rio 2016 Olympic Games. The illustrious competitions - which will take place next June - are steeped in a glorious history, with London (ENG) playing host to the women’s event while Argentina will host the men’s tournament.

As well as those coveted Champions Trophy tickets, the men’s and women’s teams competing in the HWL Final events know that there are crucial FIH World Ranking points up for grabs. These will be awarded to each team based on the final standings and could well affect each team’s position in the FIH World Rankings. This could prove to be extremely significant when it comes to qualification for forthcoming international hockey events.

With so much on the line, fans can expect to experience displays of exceptional skill and outstanding physical fitness, with non-stop action and plenty of goals. They are certainly shaping up to be fantastic events and the world is invited
