It is finals day in Mendoza

December 7, 2014

So here it is… after 20 games, the final day of the women's Champions Trophy is upon us. In the 5th to 8th place matches, Germany take on Japan at 11:30; England face China at 14:00; the Netherlands will play New Zealand at 16:30 in the bronze medal match; and at 19:00 host nation Argentina will take on Australia.

Throughout the competition the atmosphere has been electric whenever the home team have taken to the pitch. The semi-final game against the Netherlands was one humdinger of a game: fast-paced, tough tackling and with superb skills on show from both teams.

The match against the Hockeyroos will be another show-stopper, with the physicality and expansive play of the Australian side clashing with the intricacy and trickery of the Argentines. Jodie Kenny's penalty corners versus the athleticism of Belen Succi; Casey Eastham's calm defence against the silky skills of Carla Rebecchi; Anna Flanagan's style versus Luciana Aymar's elegance – the moment has come to celebrate the Best of the Best.
