Owen G Glenn Champions Trophy Auckland 2011
Auckland, New Zealand - December 3 - 11, 2011

Dwyer & Tubau lead chase for scorer's prize

December 10, 2011
2011 FIH Men's Player of the Year has scored 7 so far in Auckland

The race for the top scorer's prize at the Owen G Glenn FIH Champions Trophy is well and truly on. Currently, Australia's five time FIH Player of the Year winner Jamie Dwyer is at the top of the pile, having netted seven times in the five matches that he has played so far in the event. Impressively, all of those goals have come from open play.

Dwyer has a two goal cushion over Spain striker Edi Tubau, who has rattled in five field goals in five games. A hat-trick against Dwyer's Australia in the Gold medal match could be enough for Tubau to claim the scorer's prize.

Netherlands' youngster Billy Bakker is currently tied with Spain's Jorge Dabanch on four, while another fellow Spaniards Santi Freixa and Pau Quemada are two of  seven players who each have three goals to their name going into the final day.

The tournament top scorer will be presented with a prize in the closing ceremony which takes place immediately after the Gold Medal match.
