    Malaysia pushed India all the way in the key game of day two of the women's Hero Hockey World League Round 2 2013 but the hosts eventually prevailed for a second win of the campaign; Japan produced a double figures once again in seeing off Kazakhstan while Russia got off the mark with a big victory against Fiji in the opening game of the day  x 7 More

    Crista Cullen announces international retirement

    Storry, Hawes, Pearn and Forbes also end England & GB duty

    Five members of the England and Great Britain hockey squads have today announced their retirements from international hockey. From the women’s squad, goalkeeper Beth Storry and penalty corner specialist Crista Cullen, both of whom won Olympic bronze at London 2012, have ended their international careers. And from the men’s squad, triple Olympian Ben Hawes, double Olympian Mark Pearn and Ken Forbes have announced their retirements from the very top level of the sport.  x 9 More

    Bangladesh came the closest to a shock result on day one of the men's Hero Hockey World League Round 2 2013 when they raced into a 2-0 lead against Ireland but ultimately succumbed 5-2; China had a more comfortable task in dismissing Oman while India were the big winners of the day, their tally rising to double figures  x 4 More

    Germany’s KHTC Rot-Weiss Köln were crowned winners of the BMW AutoLille EuroHockey Indoor Club Champions Cup thanks to a string of brilliant performances in Lille. Rot-Weiss powered to wins over Partille SC (4-2), Atlétic Terrassa (9-2), Racing Club de Bruxelles (4-1) and host Lille MHC (12-1) to reach Sunday's final where they comfortably defeated Racing Club for a second time, 7-2.  x 7 More

    Ireland wrapped up their initial World League 2 preparations with a 3-1 defeat vs. Malaysia in warm conditions in Kuala Lumpur on Wednesday. Coach Andrew Meredith made two changes to his starting line-up for the 3rd and final game in Malaysia with Goalkeeper David Harte and defender Paul Gleghorne returning to the side. More

    The Top 100 Australian Sportswomen of All Time

    Ten hockey players feature in shortlist

    Sportforwomen.com.au has opened voting for the Top 100 Australian Sportswomen of All Time. This was a process which allowed the public to nominate their favourite athletes. Sportforwomen.com.au have asked Hockey Australia to promote the competition and called for the hockey community to get behind their favourite women athletes.  x 4 More
