New Irish Women's coach Darren Smith has announced his first ‘Electric Ireland' Senior Women's Squad for the upcoming training camp in Valencia, Spain. Smith's squad will train under the new coach from the 2nd - 11th February 2013 and will also play three friendly games vs. Spain during the training camp. More

USA Field Hockey has today announced that former Great Britain Assistant Coach Craig Parnham has been named head coach of the U.S. Women’s National Team. Parnham - A who was a key figure in the coaching staff that led Great Britain to the Beijing 2008 and London 2012 Olympic Games - will relocate to Chula Vista, California with his wife, Emma, in early February. Congratulations to Kate Walsh, who has been elected to serve on the British Olympic Association's Athletes' Commission. Kate, the captain of the Great Britain and England teams, is one of six Olympians who have been elected by their peers to serve on the Commission. Each of the athletes has been elected for a four year term. More

After a two year absence, Germany’s Tina Bachmann - a member of the team that won Olympic Gold at Athens 2004 - looks set to make her return to international hockey in 2013. According to an article on Dutch website Hockey.nl, the 34-year-old former captain was recalled to the Germany training squad last month by new coach Jamilon Mülders. More

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Today, two-time Olympic field hockey player, 2006 Samsung World Cup Best Goalkeeper and once recognized as the No. 1 goalkeeper in the world, Amy Swensen (née Tran), announced her retirement from the U.S. Women’s National Field Hockey Team. Swensen’s career with the National Team began in 2001, competing in a Team USA uniform for over a decade and representing her country in 163 international competitions. More

The IHA have been formally notified that Senior International players David Ames and Ian Sloan have declared to play for England & Great Britain and as result have withdrawn themselves from selection for the Ireland Senior Men's Team. Both players are currently based in England and have indicated that they foresee their future hockey careers and professional lives there. More
