    Following feedback from some National Associations regarding the proposedIndoor Rules changes, a decision has been taken to delay the implementation of the new Indoor Rules until further notice. Continental Federations and National Associations should therefore continue to use the current Rules of Indoor Hockey, which have applied since 1 January 2011, for their 2012/2013 Tournaments and competitions.  x 517 More

    Netherlands trio confirm international retirement

    End of an era as all time great De Nooijer calls time on Dutch career

    Netherlands stars Floris Evers, Roderick Weusthof and legendary attacker Teun de Nooijer have all retired from international hockey, it was confirmed last week. The trio were central figures in the team that won the Silver medal at the London 2012 Olympic Games in August, narrowly missing out on the Olympic title to Germany.  x 74 More

    Hockeyroos dominate Challenge final to return to world's top tier

    A 6-1 final win saw Australia fulfill their favourite's tag in some style as they saw off USA to claim the Electric Ireland FIH Champions Challenge I title; Hosts Ireland came back with a vengeance to stun Scotland and win bronze; Belgium ended their campaign in fifth place as outdid South Africa. India took seventh place with a controlled victory over Wales who ended eighth and took the one relegation spot.  x 44   More

    USA set up Australia showdown in Champs Challenge final

    Ireland and Scotland dreams ended as they now vye for fourth

    Lauren Pfeiffer finally made the USA penalty corner count to end home Irish dreams in the semi-finals of the Electric Ireland FIH Champions Challenge I in Dublin; they now face Australia who eventually saw off Scotland's challenge after two late penalty corner goals powered the Hockeyroos through. In placement action, Belgium and South Africa will meet in the fifth-place game after winning their classification games against Wales and India, respectively.   More

    Hockey mourns the loss of "fantastic servant to the game"

    It is with regret that the England Hockey Board has learned of the passing of Julia Gill. Julia died on 2nd October 2012 after a long battle with cancer. Details of Julia's funeral have been confirmed. More

    Ireland go distance to beat Belgium; Scotland and USA also through

    Tournament favourites Australia were pushed to the limit but struck in the closing stages to see off South Africa in the semi-finals of the Electric Ireland Champions Challenge I in Dublin; Ireland scored with the final touch of extra-time to beat Belgium while USA and Scotland join them in the final four; the Scots went the distance against India, eventually winning 3-1 in a penalty shoot-out win. USA followed up with a 7-2 success against Wales  x 9   More

  • David Luckes named FIH Director of Sport

    Former LOCOG Head of Sport Competition joins FIH staff

    The FIH has named David Luckes as its Director of Sport. Luckes will take up his new role in February of 2013. Luckes comes to the FIH with a wealth of international and Olympic sporting experience, most recently having served as the Head of Sport Competition for the London Olympic Organizing Committee (LOCOG). Luckes takes over the post from Roger Webb, who recently retired after several years of dedicated service. More
