Two weeks ago, Bangladesh really put the word ‘world’ into the World League when it moved onto Round 2 of the newest international hockey competition. The 40th-placed team in the FIH World Ranking is the lowest-ranked team to make it through to the second round to date and incredibly enough had not played in an official international event for more than a decade before their triumph in Singapore. x 7 More

LAUSANNE – The FIH today announced the match schedule for the Electric Ireland Women’s Champions Challenge 1, which will be held in Dublin, Ireland from September 29-October 7, 2012. The Pan American Junior Championship for men and women is underway in Guadalajara, Mexico. The massive event will run over 14 competition days from September 10-23 and includes 14 men’s teams and 11 women’s teams. It is the biggest event that the Pan American region has even hosted at the junior level with the 24 squads from 14 different countries. Five spots for the Junior World Cup are up for grabs, with two for the men and three on the women’s side. More

The European Hockey Federataion today announced the dates and venues for the EuroHockey Men's and Women's Club Champions Tournaments. On the women's side, the EuroHockey Club Champions Cup Rounds 1 and 2 will be held in Hamburg, Germany from March 29- April 1, 2013. For the men, the EuroHockey Club Champions Trophy Round 1 and 2 will be held in Vienna, Austria on May 17-20, 2013. More

The FIH is in the course of setting up a new procedure for dealing with disciplinary matters/disputes. Disciplinary offences on the field of play at an FIH event are normally dealt with by the Tournament Director (TD). It is proposed that all other disciplinary matters or disputes (which were previously dealt with by committees or by Executive Board) should be dealt with by a Disciplinary Commissioner (DC). More

Four teams moved onto the second round of the Hockey World League after three separate tournaments this weekend. On the men’s side, Ireland and Austria punched their tickets to the second round after finishing in the top two at the World League Round One tournament held in Cardiff Wales. x 8 More
