One of the ongoing debates in World Hockey is how the game is presented on TV. Quite frankly the broadcast team contracted by the IOC did hockey very few favours at the London Olympics. There is no doubt that cameramen, directors and producers who do not have a deep understanding of the game are simply unaware of the incredible skills involved in the game and what to highlight. Particular nuances of the game will be lost to them. More

After 14 competition days, 79 matches and a staggering 521 goals, a hugely successful and entertaining Pan American Junior Championships in Guadalajara, Mexico has drawn to a close. It proved to be a fantastic event for Argentina, who continued their domination of the Junior Pan American competitions by claiming Gold medals in both the men’s and the women’s competitions. x 5 More

Four more women’s team claimed a place in Round Two of the World League after this weekend’s Round One event in Vienna, Austria. Making the cut were Belgium, Russia, Ukraine and Austria. Belgium and Russia already had their place in the next round secure after just three days of action. But the real drama was the fight for the last two spots, which Ukraine and Austria ultimately won. The Austrian's berth came after a nail biting shootout in the final game of the tournament. More

Belgium and Russia have continued to dominate proceedings at the women’s Hockey World League Round 1 competition currently taking place in Vienna. With two full days of competition remaining, the top seeds have already claimed enough points to guarantee a top four finish and seal a place in Round 2 of the Hockey World League. However, four teams will fight it out for the two remaining qualifying positions in Austria this weekend. More

The next generation of Black Sticks Men have been invited to a selection camp in Counties Manukau this weekend as part of the Owen G Glenn Future Black Sticks programme. Thirty athletes, selected from the U-21 National Tournament in May this year, were invited to attend a four day camp (21-24 September). More
