  • EHL Round 1 Schedule released

    24 teams to take part in first stage

    The European Hockey League (EHL) today released the playing schedule for its two Round 1 events. The first tournament will take place in Barcelona from October 12-14. It will be followed by the second tournament in East Grinstead, England from October 26-28. More

  • Hockey History is being made today!

    First Day of World League compeitition

    Today, hockey history is being written! It is the first day of action for the new FIH competition, the Hockey World League. Today in Prague, Czech Republic, six women’s teams will take to the pitch to officially kick off the new event.The historic first game is between Scotland and Turkey. The first tournament in the Czech Republic is a joint event with both men’s and women’s teams taking part.  x 21 More

    Germany takes over top spot in FIH World Ranking

    Details included on revision to World Ranking points

    The good news just keeps on coming for the German men’s national team. On the heels of their Olympic gold medal, the FIH released the updated World Ranking, and now the Germans hold the top spot on the men’s side, taking over from Australia, which claimed bronze in London. On the women's side, the Dutch kept their #1 ranking after winning the Olympic gold.  x 128 More

    Rabente writes his name into Olympic history

    Unlikely goalscoring hero undoes Dutch with classy double

    Jan Philipp Rabente etched his name into German hockey history as his pair of goals helped Markus Weise’s side retain the Olympic title, doing it in breathless style at the Riverbank Arena. Prior to the final, Rabente was the equal lowest goalscorer in the German squad but he proved an unlikely hero with a goal in each half to counter Mink van der Weerden’s penalty corner.  x 5 More

    Kookaburras salvage bronze at hands of GB hosts

    Dwyer and Govers rebounds fire Australia to third

    Australia claimed their sixth bronze medal in their men’s Olympic history as their all-out aggression eventually wore down hosts Great Britain in the third place playoff, the penultimate match of the London Games. Close range rebounds from Jamie Dwyer and Kieran Govers saw them over the line after Simon Orchard’s thunderbolt was counteracted by Iain Lewers’ corner goal. More

    Netherlands and Germany meet in clash of the titans

    Galvanised European pair all set for Riverbank showdown

    Germany and the Netherlands are set for yet another major clash in their storied histories together this evening when they meet in the final match (8pm) of the 2012 Olympiad. Both sides are seeking their third Olympic title in the last 20 years as they have won four of the last five Games since 1992, broken only by Australia’s Athens win.  x 6 More

    Belgium surge to 5th place

    South Africa hand wooden spoon to India

    Belgium scored 5 goals to Spain and finish in 5th place, an amazing 6 spots higher than their entry ranking in the Olympic competition. South Africa went ahead early and never relinquished the lead, pushing back India into last place of a disappointing competition for former Olympic powerhouse.   More

    Dutch delight as they have golden touch once more

    Argentina again the bridesmaids after titanic tussle at the Riverbank Arena

    The Netherlands painted the Riverbank Arena orange as they emulated the feat of four years ago in Beijing, winning the Olympic final 2-0 having been locked at 0-0 at the interval. That time it was China in Beijing; this time around, Argentina were the victims of a truly dominant performance after the break in London  x 19 More
