The Sultan Azlan Shah tournament starts in Ipoh, Malaysia in 10 days and will run from May 24-June 3. Seven of the top men’s national teams will take part in the annual event with Great Britain, Korea, New Zealand, Pakistan, Argentina, India and Malaysia in the field. A major blow for the Australian women's hockey team with Jade Warrender out of the Olympics, after rupturing her anterior cruciate ligament at training in Perth this week. Warrender is expected to be out for 9-12 months with the Junior World Cup in 2013 her most immediate goal. More

The Olympic flame will be lit in a ceremony in Olympia, Greece, on Thursday ahead of the start of the torch relay and the London 2012 Games. Carried by 8,000 torchbearers, the Barber Osgerby-designed torch will cover 8,000 miles across all of the country's nations and regions, to reach the Olympic Stadium in Stratford on 27 July to light the cauldron at the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games. x 3 More

The London Organising Committee (LOCOG) has announced that another 62,000 tickets for the Olympic hockey tournament will go on sale. Olympic Park tickets will be on sale at £10 for adults and £5 for young people and seniors. Reflecting the promise made by LOCOG Chair Sebastian Coe and CEO Paul Deighton last year, tickets will be sold on a first come, first served basis. x 31 More

It is with deep sadness that the Croatian Hockey Federation reported the sudden death of Ivan Hrupec. The 66 year-old was a hockey official, a former International Umpire of the FIH grade, a hockey player and the member of the HK Zelina as the good ghost for the many generations. More

On Saturday, German National Team player Matthias Witthaus made history becoming the nation’s most capped player in his 351st career game. Witthaus surpassed the previous record holder Philipp Crone. On the final day of the Visa International Invitational Tournament, Great Britain won the women's final against Argentina, while Korea defeated China for women's bronze. In the men's event, Great Britain defeated India, while Germany won the tournament with win against Australia. More

The final round of pool play at the Riverbank Arena saw Korea women edge out China but Argentina go through to the final on goal difference, despite a defeat at the hands of Great Britain. In the men's event, already certain finalist Germany maintained a perfect record with a win against India, and Australia and Great Britain drew, with the undecided result seeing Australia through into the Final. South Africa became the last team to qualify for 2012 London Olympic Hockey Tournament after winning the Men’s Olympic Qualification Tournament in Kakamigahara, Japan with a 2-1 win over Japan.
