    London tube stops re-named for Olympic stars

    Former hockey greats among those honored by the unique project

    To celebrate the Games, the names of 361 tube station stops in London have been changed to the names of Olympic athletes. Transport for London (TfL) has unveiled the special Olympic Legends Underground Map featuring icons such as four-time gold medallist Jesse Owens as station stops on the map.     Continental Federations meet in Brussels

    EHF plays host to meeting of five federation representatives

    The EHF hosted an annual meeting of the Continental Federations with the FIH. The meeting was held in the EHF Office, Brussels on 23rd March 2012. The main items discussed dealt with the strategic plans of all the continental federations and the FIH. It covered all areas of hockey such as generating revenue and raising the profile of events to team performance and governance.  x 2 More

    Ireland women's coach Gene Muller retires

    End of the Olympic dream is also the end of an era

    Ireland’s National Women’s Hockey coach, Gene Muller, has today announced his decision to retire from Irish Hockey. South African born Muller took over the reins from Riet Kuper in October 2006 to become Ireland’s first full time Women’s coach taking the team through a period of dramatic change during his time.  x 2 More

    With 4-1 win against Ireland, Belgium earns a 2012 spot

    Belgium became the 11th women’s team to qualify for the 2012 London Olympics after powering past Ireland, 4-1, in the Athlon Car Lease FIH Road to London tournament in Antwerp. In front of a capacity crowd, Sofie Gierts had the game of her life and it came at just the right time as her three goals paced Belgium to the win and to London. Spain picked up the bronze medal with a 5-1 win against Russia.  x 69 More

    Dutch name Olympic men's training team

    Head coach of the Dutch men's national team, Paul van Ass, announced the 26-man Olympic training group that will make up the core of the team headed to the London 2012 Games.The big news out of the well-attended, hour-long press conference was that Dutch veterans Teun de Nooijer and Taeke Taekema have been dded to the Olympic training group after being cut late last year.  x 5 More

    Sneak preview day at qualifier in Kontich

    All three games a glimpse of what awaits on Final Sunday

    If odds makers were looking for help at the Athlon Car Lease FIH Road to London Tournament, they didn't get much despite today's games all being exactly the same as Sunday's final. Both Ireland vs. Belgium and Spain vs. Russia ended in 1-1 a draw, while France won by a slim 5-4 margin against Mexico. The results set up what is sure to be a thrilling finale to the Kontich qualifier. More

    Argentina captures series with victory

    Las Leonas edge out Hockeyroos in test series

    World No. 2 Argentina defeated the Hockeyroos tonight 2-1 and with the victory, captured the series 1-0 after drawn results in the first two matches. Captained by seven time World Player of the Year Luciana Aymar, Argentina was too strong tonight against a tired Hockeyroos outfit. More
