Despite poor weather conditions, the first day of Euro Hockey League’s Round 1.1 event in Mülheim was blessed with drama, competitive hockey and plenty of goals. No less than 20 strikes found the target in the four matches played on Friday, as Dinamo Elektrostal (RUS), Beeston HC (ENG), Dinamo Kazan (RUS) and host club HTC Uhlenhorst started their tournaments in winning fashion. The Hockeyroos have drawn first blood and recorded a hard-fought 2-1 win against New Zealand in game one of the Oceania Cup at the Tasmanian Hockey Centre in Hobart. The gutsy win came courtesy of a match winning performance by goalkeeper Rachel Lynch who made some phenomenal saves in the final stages of the match to give the Australians the win. More
