Former international umpire Roger Webb is joining the staff of FIH as the Technical Manager.
As Technical Manager, Roger will be the point of contact for equipment, hockey rules and medical matters as secretary to the respective FIH committees. He will manage the various initiatives and projects of these bodies.
In particular he will liaise with pitch manufacturers and laboratories, stick suppliers, ball suppliers and other equipment manufacturers and therefore deal with the administration of the equipment approval and certification system of FIH.
Roger will also supervise the support staff in the FIH office in the field of Development and Coaching.
Roger was awarded an FIH Order of Merit in 2004 for his outstanding contribution to hockey and is the current Secretary of the Hockey Rules Board. His involvement with the Hockey Rules Board dates to 1994 when, after his retirement from active umpiring, he was asked to lead a newly established Rules Advisory Panel.
Roger became an international indoor umpire and subsequently umpired outdoors to World Cup level. In his career, he umpired more than 100 outdoor and indoor international matches.
Roger will join the FIH office in Lausanne on a full-time basis in June this year.
