USA 2 drew Trinidad & Tobago 2
Goals: USA - Ian Scally FG 9m, Jed Cunningham FG 13m; TRI - Nicholas Wren FG 33m FG 41m
The USA men’s team split its three-game series with Trinidad & Tobago following a 2-2 draw at the USA Field Hockey National Training Center on Monday.
The teams concluded their three test matches deadlocked with 1-1-1 records with each team scoring seven goals.
After a 3-2 win on Sunday, the USA continued to ride the momentum in the early moments of Monday's match when Ian Scally connected on a field goal in the ninth minute and Jed Cunningham added another score four minutes later to give the host team a 2-0 lead.
Continuing a trend of comebacks displayed by both of the evenly-matched teams during the series, Trinidad & Tobago battled back on the first of two Nicholas Wren goals at the 33 minute-mark to pull within 2-1 at halftime.
Wren added his second goal in the 41st minute to knot the game and the series.
The series provided a final warm-up for Trinidad & Tobago before the team competes in the Central America and Caribbean Games field hockey tournament in Dominican Republic.
For the USA, the team now returns to its training base in California to continue preparing for a Pan American Games qualifier of its own.
The USA will meet either a Central American/Caribbean team or South American team in a best of three series with the winner earning a spot in the Pan American Games tournament. The series is tentatively scheduled for early 2007 at a site to be determined.
