India scored three times in eight minutes to force a 3-3 draw against Pakistan in the sixth and final Test in Rawalpindi on Sunday.

Despite the late resurgence, India lost the series 3-1 after losing all three games at home, but denied Pakistan victory in the remaining three matches when it drew at Lahore and Rawalpindi and won the second Test at Faisalabad.

India was trailing 3-0 midway into the second half before striking three times and forcing Pakistan to change its goalkeeper Salman Akbar.

Pakistan went into the last game without its two key forwards - Rehan Butt and Shakeel Abbasi - who were nursing hamstring injuries.

Despite their absence, Pakistan did well when Tariq Aziz pounced on Harpal Singh's poor clearance in the fourth minute and opened the scoring.

Sardara Singh and Tushar Khanedkar twice came close to equalise but Akbar made good saves under the bar.

Pakistan captain Mohammad Saqlain doubled the lead in the 28th minute when he dived full length off Dilawar Hussain's pass from the left side as Pakistan lead 2-0 at half-time.

Shabbir Hussain's strike from the top of the circle in the 43rd minute gave Pakistan a 3-0 cushion before Indian forwards made some impressive moves from the right flank and made a grand recovery.

Sandeep Singh scored off his team's third short corner in the 54th minute while Shivender Singh and man of the match Vikram Pillay's magnificent field goals in the 61st and 62nd minutes brought the visitors on level terms.

The next meeting between the teams will be at the XVIII Commonwealth Games in Melbourne on 18 March.
