Team England today announced the final 16 women players to represent England in the hockey tournament at the Melbourne 2006 Commonwealth Games.

An 18-strong long list of players was announced last week. This has now been reduced to the final 16 for Melbourne in advance of a training camp in Amsterdam this coming weekend.

“There was a delay in announcing the final 16 because of an injury concern, but that issue has now been settled,” coach Danny Kerry said.

“Initially we planned to announce the final 16 after the training camp in Amsterdam, but we felt that finalising the squad at the earliest possible opportunity would be good for all concerned.”
