Welcome message from FIH President
The International Hockey Federation (FIH) is grateful to have an opportunity to organise this benefit match to aid those affected by the earthquake that struck India and Pakistan in October.

The global hockey community has felt the pain of this terrible tragedy and this is FIH’s way of helping two of our most important member nations. We are confident the ‘hockey family’ will join FIH and the Indian Hockey Confederation in an act of solidarity.

The International Olympic Committee and the United Nations has provided its support, and match will receive live television coverage across Asia and Europe.

A special bank account has also been established to accept donations of any size.

With the world’s best players available to participate, the match will be of the highest quality and one which the people of Chennai will appreciate. The composition of the India-Pakistan XI and the WorldHockey XI teams will be named closer to the match.

Hockey has always been an expression of India’s dynamic and energetic culture, and with cooperation between all parties, including the media and people of Chennai, this benefit match will be a great success.

I look forward to seeing you at the match.

Kind Regards,

Els van Breda Vriesman
FIH President
