Samsung Hockey Champions Trophy umpire Lyn Farrell was awarded her FIH Golden Whistle on Friday night after reaching the 100-match milestone earlier this year.

The presentation was made by FIH Honorary Secretary General Peter Cohen at the Champions Trophy tournament dinner.

The 42-year-old New Zealander umpired her first international match at the Women's Olympic Qualifier in Auckland in October 1991 and was appointed to the World Panel in December 1997.

In a decorated umpiring career, Farrell, has officiated at two Olympic Games, two World Cups and five Champions Trophy tournaments. She has also umpired at two Commonwealth Games in 2002 and 1998.

Farrell became the 23rd woman (and first New Zealand) to umpire 100 matches.
