Field Hockey Canada: The Canadian men’s and women’s indoor hockey teams will host the Pan American Cups of indoor hockey in Kitchener-Waterloo, from 9-11 December.
The Pan American Cups will feature national men’s and women’s teams from around the Americas and will serve as the qualifier for the 2nd Indoor World Cups to be held in Vienna, Austria, from 14-18 February, 2007.
The tournament will take place at the Manulife Financial Sportsplex at RIM Park, Waterloo. Opening ceremonies are scheduled for Friday, 9 December, at 14:00 followed by a match between the Canadian women versus Trinidad and Tobago.
Teams competing in the men’s tournament include host Canada, Guyana, Trinidad & Tobago, USA, and Venezuela. The women’s tournament consists of the national teams of Canada, Trinidad & Tobago, USA, and Venezuela. The tournament schedule can be found at www.fieldhockey.ca.
The tournament will provide a timely boost for Canadian Field Hockey, as our teams prepare for the 2006 Commonwealth Games in Melbourne, Australia, and for the World Cup Qualifier in Changzhou, China.
