Blair Tarrant is a late addition to the Black Sticks Men’s team for the Rabobank Hockey World League Semi-Final in Rotterdam following an injury to Kane Russell.
The 23-year-old Southern defender has joined the Black Sticks in Europe after Russell was ruled out late last week with a broken thumb. Russell is currently in a cast and will not recover in time for the tournament.
Tarrant played all six games during New Zealand’s recent test series against Korea.
Capital striker Jacob Smith has also been added to travel with the team as 19th man for additional injury cover.
The Black Sticks’ final schedule for the World League Semi-Final has now been re-released following World League Round 2 in Elektrostal, Russia. Results there saw France earn a spot at the Semi-Final, where they will slot into Pool A.
Pool A consists of Australia, Spain, Belgium and France while Pool B includes New Zealand, Netherlands, India and Ireland.
