Welsh Hockey Union: Welsh hockey is flying high after securing a four-year partnership with Sport Tour and Travel Specialist, Sport Experiences.

The Welsh Hockey Union has secured a package that if matched by the Sportsmatch Business Incentive Scheme will deliver the Union its first £100000 plus partnership agreement.

The four-year deal provides the Welsh Hockey Union with a £40000 cash contribution, a range of travel benefits for Welsh Hockey Union’s members and clubs, an organiser for Welsh Hockey’s team travel and accommodation arrangements and event organisation support.

The sponsorship contribution will enable the Union to expand its highly successful Youth Hockey Activator Programme which currently provides a three-year training programme for 52 young volunteers.

If matched the Sportsmatch contribution will be used to develop the Welsh Institute of Sport Artificial Pitch as a ‘Home of Hockey’, providing new recreational and competitive programmes for the sport.

“We are extremely delighted to have secured a partnership deal with Sport Experiences that will enable the Union to build on the significant successes achieved in the last couple of years,” Chief Executive of the Welsh Hockey Union, Mike Bull, said

“Hockey in Wales is a growing sport, our membership has increased by 89% in the last three years and the performance levels of our international teams are improving.

“This deal will not only help the Union provide the well trained volunteers of the future to service the increase in demand but will also enable us to expand into areas of development that we have been previously been unable to tackle.”
