The Euro Hockey League and the European Hockey Federation have released the match schedule for KO16 Amsterdam, the event which sees 16 of Europe’s finest club teams reduced down to the four Semi Finalists over four days of intense knock-out action.
The hugely exciting tournament takes place at Amstelveen’s Wagener Stadium – home of Amsterdam H&BC – between 29th March and 1st April 2013.
The KO16 draw, which took place before Christmas, resulted in some absolutely cracking fixtures, including a meeting between host club Amsterdam H&BC and Spanish champions Atlétic Terrassa. It is a match that will be particularly meaningful for former Terrassa and current Spanish international stars Santi Freixa and Roc Oliva, both of whom are wearing the colours of Amsterdam H&BC this season.
On Friday 29th March, Germany’s Uhlenhorst Mulheim will take on Glynhill Hotel Kelburne of Scotland at 09.30 hours, before Mulheim’s compatriots KTHC Rot-Weiss Köln do battle with Belgium’s Royal Leopold HC at 12.00. At 14.30, Jeroen Hertzberger’s former EHL finalists H.C. Rotterdam (NED) will take on Reading HC of England, before Belgian giants KHC Dragons face off against Lisnagarvey of Ireland in the final match of the day at 17.00.
Saturday’s (30th March) opening match will be a head to head between two of England’s finest, with Beeston HC taking on Ashley Jackson’s East Grinstead at 09.30. The draw ensures that England is guaranteed to have at least one representative in the Quarter Finals. The 12.00 match has the potential to be an absolute thriller between two sides who are committed to attacking hockey – H.C Bloemendaal (NED) and Club de Campo (ESP). Teun de Nooijer’s Bloemendaal team will be aiming to add a second EHL title to the one they claimed in 2009, but Campo – EHL Silver medallists in 2011 – have big ambitions of their own this season.
Day two will be rounded off by two high-quality fixtures, with the previously mentioned meeting between Atlétic Terrassa (ESP) and Amsterdam H&BC (NED) taking place at 14.30 before Belgium’s Waterloo Ducks take on Berliner HC at 17.00.
Sunday and Monday (31 March-01 April 2013) will feature the Quarter Finals, with two huge matches taking place on each day. The winners of each match will secure their places at EHL Final Four, which takes place in May 2013 at an as yet unconfirmed venue. The full Quarter Final Draw and schedule can be found below.
Tickets for the event will go on sale on 17th February. Full details will be released by the Euro Hockey League as soon as they are available.
