Ahead of their participation in the Hockey World League Round 2 competition in Cape Town, Belgium women will take part in a four match test series against South Africa.

The Red Panthers will compete against the host nation on Monday 14th, Wednesday 16th, Friday 18th and Saturday 19th January.

The matches will ensure that they are fully prepared ahead of the World League tournament, which takes place at Cape Town’s Hartleyvale Hockey Stadium from 21st to 27th January.

A top two finish in that event would be enough to confirm a place in World League Round 3 and keep alive the dream of qualifying for the 2014 World Cup, which will be played in The Hague (NED).

Belgium coach Pascal Kina has taken a squad of 20 players to South Africa.

He will announce the 18 player squad that will compete in the World League following an initial period of training and acclimatisation.

Unfortunately, Gaëlle Valcke and Louise Cavenaile – two central figures in the Belgium team – have not travelled due to injury.
