Following both the completion of Round 1 and the draw for Round 2, the Euro Hockey League is pleased to announce that Amsterdam H&BC (NED) will be the host club for KO16 of the 2012/13 season. The tournament will take place in Amsterdam’s historic Wagener Stadium.
KO16 – which takes place over Easter between Friday 29th March and Monday 1st April 2013 – is the jewel in the crown of the Euro Hockey League, being an event that witnesses sixteen of the finest club teams in Europe going head-to-head in knock-out action. Just four teams will remain in the competition at the end of the four day event, forming the line-up for May’s grand finale: EHL Final Four.
The Wagener Stadium has played host to some of the biggest international events in hockey, including the 1973 Hockey World Cup, the 1983 and 2009 EuroHockey Nations Championships as well as numerous FIH Champions Trophy events. The 2013 KO16 competition will be the third Euro Hockey League tournament to take place at the venue, following EHL Final Four events in 2010 and 2012.
Founded in 1892, Amsterdamsche Hockey & Bandy Club is the oldest hockey club in The Netherlands. After a period which saw various relocations, the club finally settled in the ‘Amsterdamse Bos’ around the Wagener Stadium in 1938.
The first phase of KO16 sees Europe’s top sixteen teams face each other in Round 2, to be played on Friday 29th & Saturday 30th April 2013. A complete list of the Round 2 matches can be found below.
