The Netherlands women have been named Team of the Year at a prestigious awards ceremony organised by the Dutch Olympic Committee * Dutch Sports Federation (NOC*NSF). The win rounds off another superb year for the team, who produced a brilliant display at London 2012 to successfully defend the Olympic title that they won in 2008.
At a special awards ceremony at the RAI in Amsterdam, the group lead by Max Caldas came first in the voting, seeing off competition from the Dutch swimming and athletics teams respectively. It is the sixth time that the Netherlands women have won this esteemed prize following victories in 1971, 1983, 1984, 1986 and 2006.
The International Hockey Federation would like to offer sincere congratulations to The Netherlands team in recognition of all their successes in 2012.
