Canterbury women stayed out in front in the Women’s Premier Division but had to work hard to win at Clifton 4-3.

Clifton led 2-1 and 3-2 before goals in the last 10 minutes from Christina Houslop and Kirsty Chambers.

Slough and Leicester are a point back on 9 points after differing wins on Saturday. Slough easily beat Bowdon Hightown 4-0 with two goals each from Alex Scott and Purdy Miller, but Leicester were made to work far harder by Olton and won the Midlands derby 2-1.

Chelmsford won a high scoring East Anglian derby with Ipswich 6-4 despite a hat-trick from Becky Lee Smith for the losers, and Doncaster have reached the dizzy heights of fourth thanks to a 3-2 win over Old Loughtonians.

Chelmsford men, like their women, were involved in a high scoring game but unfortunately the goals were not shared out so evenly and hey lost 11-0 at leaders Cannock, for whom Simon Ramsden scored a hat-trick of penalty corners.

Old Loughtonians made second-placed Reading work hard for a 2-0 win while Loughborough enjoyed a comfortable 6-2 defeat of East Grinstead.

Two Rob Moore corners helped Surbiton to a 3-1 win over Guildford which means the top four have now opened up a three-point gap. Hampstead won 3-1 under the Canterbury floodlights on Saturday evening.
