Tomorrow the latest World League Round 1 Tournament will get underway when USA plays host to a three-team round-robin men’s event in Chula Vista, California.
Taking part in the three-day tournament are the men’s national teams from USA, Guatemala and Mexico. On the eve of the event, USA announced its 18-man roster, which will feature a mix of veteran talent along with a handful of newcomers looking to make their mark.
Guatemala and Mexico have also announced their squads. The Guatemalan team is a relative unknown as Chula Vista will be its first major international outing. Meanwhile, Mexico and the U.S. are familiar foes, most recently meeting last October with a split result in two games. Only the winner of the Round 1 event will earn the right to move onto the World League Round 2.
As a bonus to hockey fans, USA Field Hockey announced that all three games will be streamed live via the USA Field Hockey website. Former U.S. Men’s National Team player Pat Cota will be commentating the matches on Saturday, November 17 and Sunday, November 18. USA Field Hockey followers can tweet questions to @USAFieldHockey #AskCotaLive and have them answered during the live stream.
also concluding during the weekend will be the men's and women's World League Round 1 tournaments in Trinidad & Tobago. Both events started earlier in the week and will run through the weekend.
