The FIH held its Executive Board elections on Saturday at its Congress and four new members were named to hockey’s governing body. Here’s a chance to learn new about the newest faces to the FIH family.

 

Sue Catton (ENG)
For those who were involved with the London Olympics, Catton is a familiar face as she was the Hockey Competition Manager for LOCOG and helped to deliver one of the most memorable and successful hockey tournaments ever at an Olympics. Catton also brings an impressive sports and management background. She was the Director of the England Hockey Board for seven years, served three years on the FIH Competitions Committee and also worked in the private sector for 22 years. In total, Catton brings 35 years of hockey experience to the board, from her days as a player to her London leadership role.

Mary Cicinelli (CAN)
Cicinelli is a familiar face in Canada and the Pan American continent and can now look forward to broadening her horizons to extend to the entire FIH family. Cicinelli was the Field Hockey President from 2005-2012 and on its Board of Directors from 2001-2005. She was also very close to the sporting side of hockey having served as a Canadian level umpire from 1989-2008 and as the Women’s National Team Manager from 1987-1991. On the Continental level, Cicinelli was named the Pan American vice President in 2011 and also joined its Board of Directors at the same time. In addition to her role as a new FIH Executive Board member, Cicinelli can look forward to being the Chair of the Sport Organizing Committee for hockey at the 2015 Pan American Games.

Sandra Isola (ARG)
The second new Pan American Executive Board members, Isola hails from women’s hockey hotbed Argentina, where she was active on nearly every level of hockey. She was a member of the CAH (Argentina Association) Executive Board from 2009-2012, president of the Salta Hockey Association in Argentina and the director of the ‘Hockey for All’ project in Argentina. Isola brings extensive event experience to her role on the FIH Executive Board. She was the President of Argentina’s delegation at the 2012 Olympics and a member of several organizing committees including the recent women’s Champions Trophy and the 2010 World Cup, both held in Rosario.

HRH Prince Abdulah Shah (MAS)
His Royal Highness comes to the FIH Executive Board with a distinct passion for hockey. He is the current president of the Malaysian Hockey Confederation, where he has focused on youth and women’s development. As the president, he also revitalized the MHC branding and has helped provide the association with a financial plan for fiscal responsibility. Prince Abdully shah, also has a strong passion for football as the Deputy President of the Football Association of Malaysia, where his biggest contribution has been the introduction of semi-professionalism, which has allowed the sport to grow in Malaysia.
