Malaysia coach Paul Revington has named seven former internationals in his 30 player training squad ahead of the FIH Men’s Champions Challenge I, which takes place in Quilmes, Argentina from Nov 24-Dec 2.
Defenders Mohd Amin Rahim, Mohd Madzli Ikmar Mohd Nor and Mohd Sallehin Ghani are joined by midfield siblings Jiwa and Jivan Mohan, while 32-year-old striker Chua Boon Huat and fellow attacker Ismail Abu have also been given the chance to shine.
The former South African international has selected the players based on their recent performances in the Malaysia Hockey League (MHL).
“Paul Revington believes that they are still in good shape and should be given the chance to make the team,” National team manager George Koshy told the Star of Malaysia.
Paul Revington recently became coach of Malaysia after overseeing Ireland men’s rise from 18th to 15th in the FIH World Rankings. Under his leadership, Ireland also achieved an unprecedented 5th place finish in the EuroHockey Nations Championships in 2011.
