The winning EuroHockey entry by Andy Mair

Andy Mair is the 2012 EuroHockey Photographer of the Year.

Andy, recently retired top class umpire, has had more time recently to devoted to his beloved hobby of photography. Andy was lucky enough to be at this year’s EHL Final and to capture Niklas Bruns floating the ball past Klaas Veering, for Uhlenhorst's first goal during the EHL Final at Amstelveen.

The EHF President, Marijke Fleuren said “I am delighted with this year’s winning entry. Andy seems to have captured that perfect moment where the player has struck for goal and is following the ball like a hawk to see has he found a way past Veering, not an easy task! Many thanks to the Jury for taking their time to adjudicate the entries, I think they have found a worthy winner.”

On hearing that he had won Andy said "Many thanks for this wonderful award, and for a great excuse to continue to come to watch European hockey. If only I could have seen things so clearly when I was umpiring!"

Andy will be awarded his prize along with the perpetual Trophy (donated by Morley Pecker) at Round 1 of EHL at East Grinstead.
