The FIH is seeking a dynamic and motivated individual to successfully implement its new commercial strategy. As the Governing Body for the sport of Hockey the FIH owns and delivers a range of events including World Cups, Champions Trophies, and the new World League. The FIH has 127 member National Associations and enjoys a strong profile and following in many countries around the world.
FIH has developed a new strategy for its programme of global events and requires an outstanding individual to market the TV and sponsorship rights for all FIH events worldwide, as well as exploiting new revenue opportunities.The candidate must have relevant experience in a similar position with a proven track record in sales and business development.
The position is a full time position based in Lausanne, Switzerland and will require a degree of travel. The start date for the successful candidate will be January 2013.RoleThe Business Development Manager will have the following responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain excellent relationships with existing and new TV partners
- Negotiate TV contracts
- Manage the implementation of TV distribution
- Negotiate partnership and manage distribution of digital content
- Create sponsorship sales tools
- Approach potential new sponsors
- Negotiate deals with new and existing sponsors
- Manage sponsors
- Develop new revenue streams
- Work closely with Events team and LOC’s to ensure the smooth integration of rights delivery
The Business Development Manager will report directly to the Events Director but will work closely with the FIH CEO as well as with external consultants in the areas of TV and sponsorship, and with sales agents
Candidate Profile
- Minimum 5 years experience in a similar role in sport, with strong track record in delivering sponsorship sales
- Strong determination and results focused mind-set
- Experience of getting the best from sponsorship sales agents
- Ability to communicate with people from various cultures and at different levels
- Team player
- Affinity for the game of hockey
- Fluency in English essential with other languages considered an advantage
