Hockey Australia announced the return of the International Super Series to be played at the Perth Hockey Stadium in Bentley, WA from 22 to 25 November 2012.

"The Western Australian State Government through its events agency Eventscorp showed great support of this world first hockey format sitting alongside the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting last year and we are delighted to announce that the event will stay in Perth for at least the next two years," stated Hockey Australia Chief Executive Officer, Mark Anderson.

The invitational event will feature both men’s and women’s teams that participated at the London Olympics.

Hockey Australia is delighted to announce the participation of the England Men's Hockey team, setting up the much-anticipated clash between Australia's traditional sporting rivals and a replay of the Bronze Medal Match in London.

“We’re looking forward to a tough match against England, especially after our two strong head-to-head matches during the Olympics. I expect there to be new faces on both sides, so the ongoing Ashes battle continues,” said Australian Men’s Hockey coach Ric Charlesworth

The International Super Series is a unique and exciting concept that is played with nine players and a modified game time of 20-minute halves and larger goals to ensure plenty of action.

The second edition of the International Super Series will build on the success of last year’s event that had strong support from the Perth public and was well received internationally.

"We received tremendous feedback from sports fans, the players and media following the event last year and we are pleased to bring the format alive again in 2012. Featuring a number of international teams which featured during the just completed Olympics, the 2012 event promises to be even more exciting than last year's inaugural event," Anderson stated.

Both the Australian men’s and women’s teams will return to defend their International Super Series titles.

“The Super Series format offers significantly more space, allowing for a more expansive game. In conjunction with the wider goals, the halves have changed from 15 minutes to 20 minutes each. The additional 10 minutes in each match should suit our game style, offering the crowd plenty of goals and excitement,” said Charlesworth

Thanks to a partnership between the Western Australian State Government through its events agency Eventscorp and Hockey Australia, Perth International Hockey Centre has secured the International Super Series for the next two years.

This commitment will help the ongoing development of hockey in Australia and Internationally.

The International Super Series is delighted to announce the ABC as its broadcast partner for the second year

“The ABC is excited and delighted to be partnering with Hockey Australia as the Host Broadcaster of the International Super Series and looks forward to showing Australian’s the world’s best men’s and women’s hockey live on ABC1”, said ABC Executive Producer TV Sport & Events David Spencer.

“I am also extremely pleased that the ABC will be back with us as broadcast partners to televise this event within Australia and showcase Perth as a great destination city both within Australia and overseas”, said Anderson
