Like his colleague Markus Weise from Germany, Spanish head coach Dani Martin also took advantage of the insights provided by the weekend's 4 Nations event in Düsseldorf - in which Spain finished in a disappointing last place - to finalize his Olympic squad.

The team for the current Olympic Vice-champions includes a number of players who won silver in Beijing - just like for Germany, ten players from four years ago still form part of the team: goalkeeper Quico Cortés, Juan Fernández, Ramón Alegre, Sergi Enrique, David Alegre, Roc Oliva, Edi Tubau, Pol Amat, Alex Fábregas and now team captain Santi Freixa.

The London bound group of players is also near identical with the team that finished runners-up in the Champions Trophy held in New Zealand in December last year.

The P accreditations for substitute players will go to Andrés Mir and goalkeeper Xavi Trenchs, with the latter having already had the P athlete role in Beijing.
