Sunday’s Quarter Finals in the Euro Hockey League will see Amsterdam H&BC taking on HC Bloemendaal with Beeston HC facing Uhlenhorster HC.
Teun de Nooijer’s Bloemendaal knocked out the Spanish champions Atletic Terrassa 4-3 on Day 1 of the KO16 in Rotterdam. Terrassa was the third Spanish team to be eliminated at KO16 stage as RC de Polo de Barcelona and Club de Campo have also lost their matches earlier this day.
The clash between the giants from HC Bloemendaal and Santi Freixa’s Atletic Terrassa was exciting as expected. The spectators in the crowded stadium of H.C. Rotterdam saw the teams scoring seven goals in total.
The Dutch champions AH&BC celebrated a massive 6-0 win over the Russian champions from Dinamo Kazan to march into the next round. Mirco Pruyser’s double strike made him the new top scorer in this EHL edition. Pruyser is now on seven goals.
Beeston HC were the first team to qualify for the KO8 after beating Club de Campo 2-1. While last year’s Silver Medallists are knocked out in KO16, Beeston qualify for their second KO8 in succession. “We were very slow in the 1st half but you can never write the Beeston side off”, key player Adam Dixon said after the match.
Uhlenhorster HC joined Beeston in the Quarter Final. The EHL double winners from Hamburg won their KO16 match 3-0 against RC de Polo de Barcelona. It’s the fourth time that UHC qualify for K08.
Saturday will start off with East Grinstead facing CA Montrouge. This match is followed by the game KHC Dragons against Dinamo Elektrostal. The hosts H.C. Rotterdam play Uhlenhorst Mülheim at 2.30pm before the Day’s action is finished by the last KO16 encounter between Club an der Alster and Reading HC.
