West Australian goalkeeper Tristan Clemons will be given a tough induction into international hockey, today confirmed as one of the Kookaburras squad of 18 players for the Lanco International Super Series.

The squad has been cut down from the original squad of 23 players, with Ian Burcher, Matt Gohdes, Kieran Govers, Fergus Kananagh and Tristan White missing out on selection.

Clemons will represent Australia for the first time at the Lanco International Super Series, a newly created tournament which has all new rules to make the game faster and more exciting than ever before.

New rules on display at the tournament include teams having 9 players per side instead of 11, shorter halves, more leniency on foot and stick violations outside of the circle and one player from each team having to remain in the forward half at all times.

Another new rule that will be of particular interest to Clemons and fellow goalkeeper George Bazeley will be the fact that the goals have been made one metre wider.

To make the most of these rules the Kookaburras have selected a team which includes some of the world’s most attacking players including Des Abbott, Jamie Dwyer, Eddie Ockenden, Glenn Turner and Jason Wilson.

The tournament will be held at the Perth Hockey Stadium from October 20-23 with the new rules making it the most exciting and anticipated hockey event of the year – it will be hockey like you’ve never seen before!

The Kookaburras will take on India, New Zealand, and Pakistan while the Hockeyroos will also compete against India and Malaysia.
