EHF: The European Hockey Federation (EHF) has appointed Stephen Catton to the new post of Competitions Manager.

EHF President Leandro Negret welcomed the appointment saying  that building a quality hockey product is one of the important strategic objectives of the European Hockey Federation and that the appointment of Steve will help the EHF and the National Associations achieve this objective.

Mr Catton is a former Competitions and Events Manager of the Hockey Association (now England Hockey) and more recently was Director of Sport and Recreation at Sheffield Hallam University.  He is currently working as an independent sport and leisure consultant and recently completed an international MBA from Sheffield Business School.

He has also worked for a number of other sports bodies in the UK, particularly in basketball where he was chief executive of the English Basketball Association. He was heavily involved in establishing the English Hockey League in 1989 and has organised a number of major hockey events in the UK over the last 20 years. He is also an EHF and FIH Tournament Director, attending many events over recent years in this capacity and is a member of England Hockey’s Technical Officials Development Group.
