The USA Women's National Team finished their European Tour with a draw against Belgium, 1-1. USA finished the four game test series against Belgium with two wins and two draws. The team will depart for the States tomorrow and will face New Zealand on their home turf in early September.
"Our team is really growing and getting a lot of experience out of these games," said Amy Swensen. "It was nice to get a couple of good wins against Belgium. We are looking forward to continuing to improve as a team."
Meanwhile the Americans’ northern male neighbors have also been circling around Europe in an August test series. The team started in Belgium suffering three losses in three games. From there it was onto the Netherlands, where some more tough lessons awaited the Canadians. The Dutch part of the tour started with a 5-3 loss against Russia in The Hague. That game was followed up with a pair of defeats at the hand of the Dutch, 7-2 and 6-0.
The Canadian men have one more chance to earn the elusive victory on this European tour when they take on Spain in Monchengladbach, Germany on Thursday before the EuroHockey Championship kicks off.
