LAUSANNE – After the completion of the Rabo FIH Champions Trophy on Sunday, the FIH released its updated Women’s World Ranking.
Still topping the list are Argentina, Netherlands and Germany. The Dutch beat Argentina in a penalty shootout in the final game at the Rabo FIH Champions Trophy, but still remain behind Argentina, which tops the list with 2168 points 115 points ahead of the Netherlands. Hanging onto the third spot is Germany, which stayed steady in the World Ranking despite finishing a disappointing eighth place at the Rabo FIH Champions Trophy.
The Oceania nations of New Zealand and Australia had took two different routes. New Zealand leapfrogged Australia, moving into sixth place its highest position since 2005. Meanwhile, the Aussies bumped down to seventh for their lowest-ever position in the World Ranking.
China and England also switched spots, with the English bumping ahead into fourth place.
Other interesting moves was India going ahead of Spain into tenth place, despite the Spanish having the better finish at the Champions Challenge 1. The biggest mover was Scotland, which moved from 21 to 17 thanks to their bronze medal performance in Dublin at the Champions Challenge 1.
