The 43 year old Australian, Lisa Roach, received her Golden Whistle from FIH Executive Board member Sue Neill for umpiring her 100th Senior International match at the FIH Rabo Champions Trophy 2011 today.
Roach was presented with her award shortly before officiating the Argentina versus Netherlands game in Amstelveen’s Wagener Stadium.
Lisa became an International Umpire in February 2000 and has been a member of the World Panel since November 2007. Her career highlights to date include umpiring at one Olympic Games in Beijing (CHN) in 2008, one Outdoor World Cup in Rosario (ARG) in 2010 and one Indoor World Cup in Poznan (POL) in 2011. The latter two events capped an outstanding 6 months for the Australian official, since she umpired the Final at both the World Cups.
She has also officiated at five Champions Trophies in Rosario (ARG) 2004, Quilmes (ARG) 2007, Sydney (AUS) 2009, Nottingham (ENG) 2010 and Amstelveen (NED) 2011.
With this award Lisa becomes the 30th Female Umpire to receive a Golden Whistle, and the 4th Australian Umpire to achieve the 100 Senior Internationals milestone (after Peri Buckley in 1996, Judy Barnesby in 2007 and Julie Ashton-Lucy in 2008).
