Irish Hockey Association: The Irish Hockey Association has announced Fáilte Ireland as a Bronze Sponsor of the women’s European Nations Championship in Dublin from 14-20 August.

The sponsorship is the third sponsor that has been secured for the Tournament, with Gold Sponsor ESB and Silver Sponsor Tesco already confirmed.

“I am especially pleased that Fáilte Ireland has come on board with this important international event,” enthused IHA Chief Executive Paul Varian.

“This tournament is the biggest and most important women’s hockey tournament in Europe this year, so foreign spectatorship and interest will be high. We would see the Tournament as a wonderful opportunity for Fáilte Ireland to market Ireland as a holiday destination to major European markets, particularly Germany, Holland and UK.”

“Fáilte Ireland is delighted to sponsor, through the International Sports Tourism Initiative, the Women’s European Nations Hockey Championship.  The high profile of this tournament event, together with the media coverage it attracts, provides Fáilte Ireland with a very valuable opportunity to promote the Ireland holiday message”, said John Rafferty, Head of Product Marketing, Fáilte Ireland.  “With eight of Europe’s top hockey-playing nations competing, our sponsorship of this event reinforces our commitment to enhance Ireland’s reputation as a quality sporting and leisure destination”.

Today’s news means that the IHA has secured sponsors in all three gold, silver and bronze categories for the event. The Association has now announced a total of seven sponsorships or official supplier agreements for the sport in recent months.

“It was important for us to ensure that we maximised corporate sponsorship of the Women’s European Nations Championship to act as a platform for continued, sustainable growth of our sport, beyond the event in August,” continued Varian.
