With more than a year to go, it has been confirmed that Chile will organize the Indoor Hockey Panamerican Championships.
The tournament will be held between 25 August and 1 September 2012 in the Puerto Montt Arena. The international competition will include 12 countries in the men’s and women’s categories.
During the winter holidays, a championship will be held to start strengthening Chilean indoor hockey. Trainings to select the members of the team that representing Chile in this competition will also begin.
Coach Roberto Inostroza from Rancagua has been working for this, which may well turn out fruitful and result in one or more players from the city competing in Puerto Montt next year, for which they will still intensify their efforts.
In Chilean indoor hockey the majority of players come from the provinces. It is likely that the team which will represent the country at the continental summit will be put together using these players.
The bidding process to host this international event began in 2009.
