Chris Faust, a top German hockey coach, has signed long-term contract with Czech hockey federation.
Faust, 43, will bethe head of all women‘s national teams in Czech republic and will be fully responsible for the top-level women‘s team. He will be assisted by Karolina Krizenecka and the team will will be managed by Jakub Mejzlik.
Gino Schilders, Czech Republic hockey president said of the signing,“ I am very happy that we can cooperate with Chris Faust. We set our minds together and made a long-term project, which will help to our sport in Czech Republic. He is a big personallity and the players like to work with him."
One of the most experienced Czech players, goalkeeper Stepanka Smidova, is happy with this news. " We worked with Chris at the Indoor World Cup in Poznan this year and it was something new for us. He found out how to get from us the best. I hope that we have started a new era for Czech women‘s hockey."
Faust said of the appointment, „ I am very happy, that I can work with a team that has such great potencial. What we showed in Poznan was for me and also for many people in the hockey world a small miracle. Our sixth place finishe after just one month together showed us the way. We have a very young team with some players with experience from Germany, Austria, Italy or Spain. But the main thing is the talent of the players and their ability to work on their abilities. Our first step now, will be in Vienna in Eurohockey Nations Challenge, where we want to go to the B division. We are looking forward to the European Indoor Nations Championships in Leipzig in January next year. We are now working very hard, but I am pretty sure, that this team will surprise lot of people in next few years. "
Faust’s first challenge with the Czech Republic’s national women’s team will be at the Champions Challenge 2 in Vienna.
