GAISF: GAISF Acting President and Chairman of SportAccord, Hein Verbruggen, was in Seoul on 18 July for the official signing ceremony of the host city contract for SportAccord 2006.

SportAccord 2006 will be held at the Grand InterContinental Hotel in Seoul from 3 to 7 April next year with the attendance of about 1,200 to 1,500 delegates from the sporting movement and business community around the world.

 “The Seoul SportAccord will be a very special occasion as the general assembly of the ANOC (the Association of National Olympic Committees) is scheduled to take place at the same venue from March 30 to April 5 next year”, said Hein Verbruggen at the press conference after the signing ceremony.

 “The Korean government will closely co-operate with the WTF and SportAccord to make the 2006 SportAccord a great success”, added Minister Chung.

The city of Seoul was chosen as the venue for SportAccord 2006 at SportAccord 2005, which was held in Berlin, Germany in April this year.

The contract was signed at the Ministry of Culture and Tourism by Mr Verbruggen, Dong-chea Chung, Minister of Culture and Tourism, and Chungwon Choue, President of the World Taekwondo Federation.
