The Barbarians Men’s hockey team won the Oceania Pacific Cup (4-2) over the weekend in Suva amidst a full home crowd in their final against Fiji.

The first half of the Barbarians final was hugely exciting with goals being matched up to the fourteenth minute.

Brad McLeod was the first to score for the Barbarians with a field goal in the seventh minute. Fiji followed suit with a field goal in the ninth minute.

In the 12th minute, striker Andy Ewington scored the first penalty corner, and Fiji responded with a field goal to equalise, in the 14th minute.

In the second half, the Barbarians stepped up the pressure with a converted penalty stroke by midfielder Nick Ross and a field goal by Black Sticks player Hugo Inglis.

The New Zealand Maori Women's team was beaten in their final by Australia Country 1-3. Although starting strongly in the first five minutes and reaching a 1-1 draw at half time, they were eventually overcome by Australia Country.

Striker Rhiannon Dennison was the first to score in the third minute with a penalty corner. Australia Country responded in the 24th minute with a field goal.

In the second half, Australia Country put on the pressure, scoring their final two goals to seal the game.

Barbarians' player Steven Davison and Rhiannon Dennison from the New Zealand Maori Women's team were awarded Most Valuable Players for their respective teams. Steven was also awarded the overall Top Goal Scorer for the tournament.
