Today’s match between the first placed South Africa and second New Zealand already decided that South Africa is going to play in the final on Saturday.
After three victories in three matches South Africa defeated previously unbeaten New Zealand 1-0. It was Tarryn Bright’s field goal in the 6th minute already that completed their 4th victory in succession. New Zealand had their chances during the match but goalkeeper Caroline Jack made it stand up and preserved the shutout.
New Zealand can get a revenge versus South Africa in Saturday’s championship match if they win their final game against Japan and maintain a goal-differential lead over England.
England, playing in today’s second game, defeated USA 3-2 and will have to play their last match in round-robin against leader South Africa.
