The ‘Grossen Festsaal’ of the City Hall of Hamburg, Germany hosted the celebration of the 100th anniversary of the German Hockey Federation, the Deutsche Hockey-Bund (DHB). The festivities took place an exactly the same day as DHB was founded 100 years ago: 26 March.
FIH President Leandro Negre, IOC Vice-President and German Olympic Committee President Thomas Bach, German Minister Thomas de Maiziere and EHF President Martin Gotheridge were part of the 300 invited guests.
‘Hockey is one of the jewels in the Olympic Program’, Thomas Bach stated. ‘And the DHB is a key Federation for German sport.’
FIH President Leandro Negre congratulated the DHB and his President Stephan Abel. He also stated the importance of Germany for the FIH. ‘I cannot imagine hockey without Germany’, the FIH President said in his speech.
