Leandro Negre, President of the International Hockey Federation (FIH), met with FIFA President Joseph Blatter in Zurich, Switzerland. Both Presidents had a very fruitful discussion about the future of their sports.

It was the first time that the two Presidents of the leading Olympic Team Sports met each other during an official visit. Negre and Blatter discussed the challenges for the future and agreed to keep an open dialogue between each other. Both Presidents also discussed their World Cups in 2010: for hockey the Hero Honda FIH World Cup in India and the BDO FIH World Cup in Argentina, while for football, the FIFA World Cup in South Africa is scheduled.

Other important discussion point between Negre and Blatter was the future of synthetic pitches for both sports. FIH and FIFA already join forces on this project.
